A Study on the Changes of the Fat and Cholesterol Contents in Some Organs of Rat by Feeding of the Different Dietary Protein and Fat

Abstract
This study was designed to observe the changes of the fat and cholesterol contents in some organs of rat by feeding of the different levels of dietary protein and fat.
A total 114 female albino rats from pure strain, weighing 228-257g, were used as the experimental animals. They were diveided into seven diets groups as follows; 1. control 2. F23P, (fat 23% and protein 8%), 3. Fz,Pls (fat¢¥ 23% and protein 16%), 4. F:sP:i (fat 230%o and protein 24%), 5. F4P4 (fat 4% and protein 8%) 6. F4P,6(fat 4% and protein 16%) and 7. FIP24 (fat 4% and protein 24%) diet group. And each diet group was subdivided into 6 groups; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 weeks feeding group by feeding periods.
The body weight gained amount of diet consumption, fat contents in liver, heart and serum and cholesterol contents in liver and serum were determined.
The results obtained are summarized as follows;
1. The amount of body weights of the F23Pi6 and F4P>6 diet groups were increased more than other diet groups.
2. The food consumptions of the low fat diet group (fat 4%) were, generally, higher than the high fat diet groups (fat 23%)
3. Fat contents
1) Fat contents in the liver and heart were, generally, decreased by the increasing of the protein content in the diet.
2) The fat content in the liver of 16% protein diet group was lower than 8% or 24% protein diet groups in each feeding period.
3) The fat content in the serum of FPs diet group was lower than other diet groups.
4. Cholesterol contents;
1) The contens of total and ester forms cholesterol in the liver of tie diet group containing fat 4% were not changed, significantly, according to the contents of protein in the dite,

but .ia t he diet group oontainIag fat 23%, that of P23P24 diet group was higher than that of the diet group containing protein 8% or 16%.
2) The cholesterol contents of total, free and ester forms in the serum were shown that in the high protein diet group were lower protein diet group.
According to the above results, it could be suggested that a fit amount of protein in the diet improved the contents of the fat and cholesterol in some organs such as liver, heart and serum.
